Networking with Other Real Estate Investors

Real Estate Investing is not something you want to do in a silo. The more investors and investor-adjacent people you know, the easier your life is going to be. Finding deals, vendors, contractors, private money lenders, and tenants are all going to be easier when your network is more expansive. So how can you grow your RE Investment Network in meaningful ways? We have some ideas.

1. Conferences & Summits

There are a ton of Real Estate Investment Conferences and Summits out there. Personally, we’re partial to the Bigger Pockets website to find the ones we look at. It’s a great hub for whatever niche you may be interested in. These are great for meeting others outside of your immediate area, and almost always meeting others with more experience than you. Remember, you never want to be the smartest person in the room. And at these conferences, it’s almost certain you won’t be.

2. Social Media

Facebook and LinkedIn are great resources for REIs. There are RE Facebook groups based on where you’re located geographically and even based on the specific type of RE Investments you’re interested in. This is one of the best, and most overlooked ways to connect. LinkedIn is also a great source for connection, especially with lenders and other professionals. Be sure to fill out your own profiles with lots of photos and details so that others feel more comfortable interacting with you.

3. Meetups

Real Estate Meetups are probably the fastest way to build memorable relationships with others interested in Real Estate Investment. Good old, face-to-face, hand-shaking meetings just can’t be beat. At Light House, we hold one on the third Monday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm. We also provide snacks so, double win.

4. Spreadsheets

Imagine this: You hire a plumber you found off Google. They did an AMAZING job. Fast, responsive, affordable- all the things. You think, “I won’t forget this one- they were great. I’ll call them next time something comes up.” But next time is 8 months later. And guess what? You forgot their name. And their business name. And their phone number. All of this can be avoided by keeping a spreadsheet with relevant contact and work information so you never lose track of important connections.

Here at Light House, we attend Conferences, we host Meetups, and we have spreadsheets upon spreadsheets. So if you want to get your foot in the door, we’d love for you to start with us. Click below to connect with us today.
